Wayne Rooney to undergo scan on injured knee

Manchester United defeated Stoke City 2-1 yesterday, their fourth straight win in the Premier League.

While they won yesterday without their captain Wayne Rooney, manager Louis van Gaal is hopeful they won’t have to play many more games with the skipper out of the lineup.

Rooney injured his knee over the weekend in United’s win over Hull City after he crashed into the advertising boards at Old Trafford.

Despite remaining on the pitch for the full 90 minutes against Hull, Rooney did not dress last night in United’s win over Stoke.

The captain is scheduled to undergo a scan on his knee today, but his manager is optimistic it is just a knock and nothing more serious.

It’s his knee but we have to wait to say anything about him because you never know with a knee.
