David de Gea was the star of the show once again as Manchester United took the points at the Emirates.
The United shot stopper, who had been a doubt following a dislocated finger in the international break, made a string of fine saves as United finished 2-1 winners.
Louis van Gaal was forced to pick a very raw back line with both Paddy McNair and Tyler Blackett forming a back three with Chris Smalling.
Luke Shaw was passed fit, but the full back only lasted 16 minutes after he was injured early on, adding another name to an already long list of players on the treatment table.
The injury to Shaw came in a testing first half hour which Arsenal dominated totally, but the home side were unable to find a way past de Gea and were ultimately made to pay the price for their profligacy in front of goal.
