Why Manchester United Need Ilkay Gundogan

Back in 2010, Manchester United, led boldly by Sir Alex Ferguson, missed out on the opportunity of the signing of a £7 million Ilkay Gundogan, a midfielder showing promising signs for FC Nurnberg. The German club felt they were losing their key player, and they did. However, he continued his treacherous path to success in the Bundesliga, signing a four year contract with Borussia Dortmund.

Skip forward to 2014, with David Moyes at the reins of the current Barclays Premier League champions, and it looks like he may also miss out on the opportunity of a signing Ilkay Gundogan, this time for a slightly larger fee of an estimated £25 million. There is no doubt the media have discouraged the work of Moyes, speaking of the Scot contemptuously throughout the season, combining poor results with the fact Sir Alex is no longer at the club.
