2 days at the Mullerthal Trail.

Good Old Raisins and Peanuts

My first backpacking trip since my Camino takes me to Little Switzerland.  This region in Luxemburg is thought to have similar terrain in its equally named country, hence the name; it is dominated by craggy terrain, thick forests, some caves and small streams.

The Mullerthal Trail consists of three big tracks (Route 1, Route 2, Route 3). For this trip I planned to walk route 2, it passes through the heart of Luxemburg’s Little Switzerland and offers spectacular rock formations.

Day 1 : Echternach – Beaufort 30.5 km.

It is possible to start Route 2 in Berdorf, Scheidgen, Consdorf or Müllerthal. I decided to start in Echternach, at the youth hostel.
After a short climb, I immediately got a nice view over the city and the basilica of Willibrord.
