Rory McIlroy reckons taking a penalty for Manchester United to win a Champions League shoot out would be tougher than having to sink a putt to win one of golf’s majors.
The views of the US Open and US PGA winner were endorsed by England striker Wayne Rooney when the pair met to swap advice, have some fun and take each other on in a crossbar challenge.
McIlroy, fresh from his victory at the Australian Open, is adamant it would be a tougher task to hit the winner in such an important football match.
‘I think the most pressure would be the Champions League final,’ the 24-year-old from Norther Ireland said.
‘Trying to hole a winning putt for a major is very pressurised as well but I’m not part of a team, I’m not letting down other people if I don’t score that penalty.
