HITTING THE BEACH IN TROPICAL NORTH QUEENSLAND

OMG Sydney winter is better than most but we’d had enough.  Armed with our Hit The Beach gear we jetted off to the very beautiful Port Douglas in Tropical North Queensland or TNQ as the locals say.

It was my first foray into TNQ Port Douglas and we hit the beach with gusto, kids in tow and laden with all our funky beach gear. My striped kikoy scarf now transformed into a sarong! It took me a while to wrap (pardon the pun) my head around the fact that I had left dark, wet and cold Sydney behind and was now sporting bikini, flip flops, hat and sunnies a couple of hours later!

PD has a very beautiful 4 Mile Beach, it is pristine, surrounded by tropical vegetation and feels remote even though the various hotels and resorts are just beyond the tropical vegetation. A popular beach for joggers, walkers…
