The Kimberley region of north west WA is astounding. We have spent around two months in the area, and seen some of the most stunning, unspoilt and interesting places. The phrase “rugged beauty” seems invented for the area.
However, as we moved on we had our expectations about the journey south being a bit of a drag changed by the reality. It is true, this is a big state and you can drive very long distances seeing very little (that is, mile after mile of quite untouched natural land, in itself very unusual in most places in the world). What really blew our minds, though, were a number of National Parks that, really, we would have expected to have heard about before (and one or two that we did know about).
Karajini, Milstream-Chichester, Cape Range and Kalbarri. Each wildly different from the other, but each offering something very special.
